Eternal Ink
The current designs for tattoo ink are outdated and relatively tacky. I proposed to design three packaging designs for tattoos that reflects the new wave of tattoo designs which often include flowing, abstract lines and forms. This style of movement will inspire the appearance of my design, expressing tattoos as something beautiful, attractive and elegant.
Brief
The project required the development of a conceptual brand and cohesive brand identity, along with the design of three packaging boxes. While the boxes are part of the same brand, each one features distinct visual and color designs to create variety while maintaining a unified aesthetic.
explanation
My three boxes will each package a type of tattoo ink, ranging in colours including black, red and blue ink. Tattoos are becoming increasingly more popular, this is due to a variety of reasons including steering away from strict religious beliefs, being used as creative expression and higher acceptance in young adults.
Hand-painted watercolor elements showcase tattoos as elegant and beautiful, while the circular dots symbolize drops of ink. Fine lines composed of tiny dots subtly represent the tattooing process, adding a refined, artistic touch to the overall design.
The packaging style employs overprint and knockout color techniques to highlight the benefits of print-based media. By layering colored elements through overprinting, it achieves depth and a broader spectrum of colors, even with a simplistic color palette.
